Peekaboo Clipart Bookmarks

I have a quick post today about bookmarks of all things.

So we had our Scholastic book fair last week, and can I just tell you, my students spent so much more money on the chotskies than on the books!  It's a sin!

The thing is, they were more interested in their books when they had little doodads and thingamabobs to go with them.  You know what I mean?  They're drawn to gimmick books with plastic toys like flies are drawn to well... garbage.

This got me thinking.  Why not make them special thingamabobs for their books?  How hard could it be?  It turns out, not hard at all.  All I had to do was print out some cute clip art.  I used regular printer paper;  no cardstock necessary.

Next, I laminated them.  I used a home laminator with 3mil laminating pouches.

I cut them out and put a slit across the widest part.  DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY ACROSS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.

As you can see once your little clipart character is tucked into the corner of the page he does a little peek-a-boo thing and holds the place.

Now you may think I have littles in my class but you'd be wrong.  My kiddos are 5th and 6th graders and they eat this cute stuff up!  I say let them be kids for a while longer.

I find these so darn adorable!

If you like this clipart set, you can find it here: AppleCheeks on TpT
There are all kinds of other animals to choose from.

Hasta La Vista!
